Teams & repos
How to create teams, add members, and manage repositories.
The model
gittan has one organizational structure: Organization → Team → Repository. There are no personal namespaces and no forks. Every repo belongs to exactly one team.
Permissions
Two levels. No in-between.
| Role | Access |
|---|---|
| Org member | Read all repos in the org |
| Team member | Full admin on the team's repos — push, settings, secrets |
| Org owner | Manage org: members, teams, billing, policies, OIDC, secrets |
Team membership comes from your identity provider's group claims. When someone joins a group in your IdP, they get team access automatically.
Create a team
gittan teams create --name platform --display-name "Platform Team" Or use the web UI at your org admin > Teams.
Create a repo
gittan repos create --team platform --name my-service The repo is immediately available at:
git clone git@git.gittan.eu:your-org/my-service.git Git URLs
| Protocol | Format |
|---|---|
| SSH | git@git.gittan.eu:{org-slug}/{repo}.git |
| HTTPS | https://git.gittan.eu/{org-slug}/{repo}.git |
